I have always believed that adoption is the gospel in your living room.
We always knew that adoption would be part of our story, we just never thought that adoption would be the whole story.
Our adoption journey started 4 years into our marriage and after realising the effects of transracial adoption we spent another 4 years praying about it. God was preparing our hearts for Zinzi for 8 years. The day we held her in our arms we felt the weight of the promise we made to God and her tummy mommy. We would give her our best. The best marriage, the most love, and a firm foundation in Jesus.
One of my most significant learning curves as a transracial adoptive mom has been embracing the beautiful journey of caring for Zinzi's natural hair. My deepest desire is for her to love and celebrate her hair fully. This led me to immerse myself in learning about 4c hair. There were definitely missteps along the way, but with each attempt, I learned and grew.
The time Zinzi and I now share during hair care is a source of immense joy. We're not just creating hairstyles; we're building precious memories, and she knows her hair is her crown – and mine too.
